In Like a Lamb or MARCH MADNESS
In like a lamb, my driver turned into a noodle. I got so frustrated I took a lesson from Marty Foster in Oakland. He was good, but the Montclair driving range reminded me of Tin Cup….and not in a good way.

Like my game, Montclair driving range is an ugly dead end
Here is how I was doing up to the lesson:
Bridges Scores, early March
Score | Fairways | Greens | Up & Down | |
84 | 9 | 5 | 19% | |
92 | 6 | 2 | 20% | |
85 | 5 | 3 | 27% | |
92 | 2 | 4 | 25% | |
92 | 3 | 3 | 25% | |
85 | 10 | 2 | 43% | |
91 | 8 | 2 | 24% | |
88 | 10 | 5 | 31% | |
Average | 88.6 | 6.6 | 3.3 | 27% |
My theory is that not getting off the tee leads to not hitting the green. Then my normally strong up & down game came up short…..like the name implies.
Here is my first round after the lesson:
Score | Fairways | Greens | Up & Down |
80 | 7 | 5 | 42% |
What actually improved was my up & down game!
That was on a Friday. When I came back on Monday I sucked again:
Score | Fairways | Greens | Up & Down |
92 | 5 | 3 | 27% |
Back to my previous averages, pretty much.
Getting back out there tomorrow and Friday. Stay tuned!
Fingers Crossed!
