Re: Helmet CamsHi, last season we produced 12 clients videos and we had the best experience with the GPRO DH 1080 in setting level 5.
We could easily cut in the clips from the GOPRO HD with the footage from a professional Sony HD cam. It had also the best light exposure set up from the head cams we tried. Draw backs: 1. there is no display, if you use, you'll get a hand of where your shot is pointing. 2. The clips we wanted to slow down tended to "Studder". The Head, chest and hand straps dont work too great, to unsteady if the terrain is rougher. We only used fix helmet mounts and filming from the ski pole with the pole mount as follow cams. This is provided much smoother shots than form the head cam and different angles. Great also for mounting on heli, snowmobile, skis etc. The best thing is the price, it looks cheap but really works well. He is a link to a vimeo video which you will see some of footage incorporated. http://vimeo.com/channels/59897#9591990 In the middle of the clip, shots from out of the heli and helilanding are gopro http://vimeo.com/channels/59897#9710852 has some more follow cam on snowboard and helishots. What is also worth getting is the tri-pod mount for it, use it as a stationary camera to film tight areas such as couloirs or out of heli exits, that way you can hold it steady, and that gives it the better quality look.
